I’m looking into a yak for inshore saltwater and freshwater rivers. I know it’s a broad question, but what length should I be looking for? Also, the sit on top seem popular and easier to use but seems like they would tip easier. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.
1- sit on top
2- 12’+
^my opinion.
Sit on’s are definitely more stable (with a few exceptions) than most all sit ins. You get plenty of room for gear and accessory mounting on a sit on that you just can’t always get with a sit in. Sit ins CAN be faster, lighter and more efficient, but you sacrifice the stability and things that make the sit ons such a great fishing platform.
Come see us over at Time Out Sports in Mt. Pleasant, we can get you out in most of our boats if you want to try something out.

Thanks boys! I’ll be in Edisto next week… Hopefully the fishing will be good!
