Belize Guide References?

Will be in Southern Belize (Maya Beach) and was wondering if anyone had any guide references there from past trips. Will be fly fishing. Looking for the usual three suspects - larger bonefish, permit and tarpon. Dont want to book a lazy guide who takes me to mudding 6in bones (had that experience before) so I’d appreciate any references. Thanks.

Don’t have any but have always wanted to go. Let us know how it is. Someone here will probably know something.

We fish down there but not that far south. A great guide in the area we go is Capt. Bicho out of San Pedro, Ambergris Cay.

I have fished in San Pedro area and recommend Abbie Marin. He is DEMANDING but man does he know where the fish are. I used another guide during the same week and had no where near the success with him as with Abbie. He had me on big bonefish and permit several times a day. But bring your A game - which I didnt have - because he expects you to make the cast.

Spent a week fishing out of Placencia last March which I believe is right near Maya Beach. Capt. Bruce Leslie is the man! We caught 8 permit as well as a few small bones and a poon all OTF. Better anglers would have caught several more tarpon. Works hard and knows his stuff. Brings kick ass lunches as a bonus. Dad and brother have fished over 20 days with him in the last 4 years.

Don’t book through a lodge or outfitter. Let me know if you want his contact info , which you do, or have questions.
