Anybody ever been fishing in Belize ? I’m thinking about buying a honeymoon trip for my daughter and her fiance and I would like to hear from someone who has benn there and done that.
I’ve been a couple of times, love it! We stay in San Pedro on Ambergris Cay, at the Xanadu Resort. There is a great fishing guide, Capt. Bicho is his name I think, and he has a couple of son’s that guide also. Picks you up at the condo dock, gives you a great fishing trip, then goes to a little island where they grill your catch on the beach.
Avoid Belize City, except to pass through, don’t want to stay there [:0]

Thanks!
My wife and I have been to Belize 7 times, I think. We found San Pedro Ambergris Cay to be the best place to stay. For a wedding trip, I would suggest Victoria House. It is a bit more upscale than most of the hotels on the island. You can book fishing, diving, sightseeing or whatever charters there. The boat captains will pick you up at their dock and deliver you back there. It is hard to find a bad meal in San Pedro, food is fantastic, all seafood was swimming earlier that day.

Dang Mike. I may not be in town for the wedding but I may see them down in Belize!
We just went for our anniversary. Go to the Phoenix Resort on Ambergris and never look back. Absolutely awesome. We hired a captain and his crew for the whole day. Just me and the wife. Snorkeld, fished, spear fished. He cooked it up for us on a private island. One of the best trips of my life. Same as Victoria, you can book everything through the hotel. Can’t say enough good things about Belize and the Phoenix.
The Victoria House is very nice, we’ve had dinner there a few times, great food. It’s right next door to the Xanadu where we stay, but it has too much of an American hotel feel, to us. You can get a really nice condo with all the comforts of home for the same price as a hotel room.

I’ll be there the end of July. Was just telling my wife we should have gone somewhere cool for the summer like the last 2 years. Glad this thread came up, now I’m looking forward to it!
X2 on San Pedro and Ambergris Caye!! We always rent a condo from any number of individuals at Coral Bay Villas which is two “doors” down from Xanadu. We did a whole day fishing, snorkeling, and beach lunch trip and it was a blast. The guide and his son were very nice, professional, and (**() good cooks. Almost every place has its own dock for being picked up for any number of reasons. If you decide on Ambergris Caye, it will be a trip your daughter will never forget!

A couple of other things worth doing, take a snorkeling trip to shark ray alley and swim with the sharks and big rays, it’s amazing. Short boat ride from Ambergris. Enjoy a sunset drink at thecut on Cay Caulker. It’s a funky place, the entire island is an old hippie enclave.
And a trip inland to see the old Mayan pyramids is not to be missed! We started before daylight, guide picked us up at the dock. We took the boat back to the mainland and then ran about about 20 miles up the New River through the jungle. Crocodiles in the water, parrots and monkeys in the trees. Went as far as the boat could go then transferred to an old bus and went about 20 more miles to another river landing, then transferred to another boat and went another 10 miles upriver through the jungle. When we finally got there, all I can say is that the Mayan pyramids and temples are absolutely amazing. How in the heck did those people build those structures thousands of years ago out of perfectly fitted stones, in the middle of a jungle swamp that doesn’t have a rock for 100 miles?
