Left James island at 6:30, rode out to Charleston 60, loaded up on fat cigar minnows. Went to the spot where we caught all of the ARS two weeks ago, caught 2 ARS, and keeper BSB’s all within site of the bridges. Headed out to 90 foot for better fish and met the fleet and the bottom was lit up with bottom dwellers. 13 inch bee liners were stacked up 10 foot off the bottom and keeper BSB’s were under them. we loaded the boat with fish as they regurgitated bait fish all over the place. caught some pinks, 1 small black tip shark, some triggers, a dozen or so keeper bee liners and a good ARS. lots of fish just not the usual good size we are used to this time of year. great way to start the season with Catp Jimmy, Hal (Augie dog was chasing Henry around Savannah and woldn’t answer the phone). awesome ride in at 40mph. this is what i like about SC, a great deer season and five days later offshore.
If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.
How about saving some for me if I ever get back. Congrats on a good catch.

how where you catching the cigars
we were using sabiki rigs at the chas. 60. the bait is everywere right now, we were casting to the schools on the surface and when they sounded we would watch the sounder and drop the bait down to that depth. it took about 30min. to get 10 doz. or so. you don’t always need live bait when the bite is on, but lots of times it may be the day maker that takes that live one. always take live bait when it is readely available as it is now! we often fish a squid on one hook and a live bait on the second hook of a chickin rig to make the live bait last & determine if good grouper or ars’s are in the mix. a good school of bsb’s will wipe out a mess of cigar minnows fast. plenty of fish for you adabean, talk shellcracker into staying on with me and we can fish more often.i don’t think he want’s to work this hard!
