Is there a public boat landing or closest boat landing? Thanks
There is a landing on Sullivan’s that is run by the FD, but you need to be a member to use it. There is also Shem creek and Remleys Point which aren’t too far away and are both public. IOP has a marina where you can put in but I think its $10-15 to launch. I think you can also get a yearly membership there.

You can use the “mud landing” as I like to call it on station 26 on SI.

Is that landing public? I’ve driven by and seen a few trucks putting in small boats before. I need to drive by there and check it out again, I’m guessing it’s best for yaks and small boats?

Thanks for reply. I moved back to chas about a year ago and I cant seem to find any spots. Someone told me to try around Ben Sawyer Bridge and Pitt St Bridge. So just looking where to put in at.
That landing at Sta 26 is public but, check it out before you haul your boat down there. Great for yaks and smaller boats. Way skinny at low tide. Also be careful about parking. Flood tides come way up and could get you if you aren’t careful.

gold bug is right under ben sawyer and is private. Mud landing is great for skiffs and yaks as stated above, but I will NEVER park out there, always back up on the mainland and walk back out. Seen water halfway up the doors of cars out there caught in the high tide.

Most Counties have a GIS map online where you can see parcels, Charleston County has theirs here…
http://gisweb.charlestoncounty.org/
If you go look for the Station 26 landing(Click the 2012 Color Photos box), select Parcels as the active layer(round button), then click the “Identify” icon (should turn yellow) it will give you parcel information on the right, there is one parcel there that is owned by the Township of Sullivans Island, the rest you will get a “No Parcels Found” when you click on it, that means that no one owns it and it is Public Property, most roads are like this.

Theres nothing like the "Smell" and sounds of the creek. Its not just one thing that makes it familiar..its all of it.

I’ve been there on a negative tide before when there was no water whatsoever. On average, a lowtide there is about a foot of water. Great for yaks or small boats. My 16 is almost too big to put in there at times. And a 4x4 is highly suggested. It gets very muddy.
On higher tides, 5.9 and up, there will be water covering that road. Don’t take your chances there if you aren’t 100% familiar with that place. I’ve also seen water touching the doors of cars on high tide out there, that will ruin your day for sure.
Best bet is probably Shem Creek. Its a quick little run to get to Ben Sawyer and fairly protected.

Yeah the mud-ramp is tricky, I have pictures of my trick surrounded by 4" of water because of where I parked, and I had to leave at peak high tide once.
