Was there a member on here that is a benchmade dealer? In the market for a new knife.

Buy a Spyderco and don’t look back.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Are you military or LE? If so, you can register with Benchmade and get great discounts. I have 2, one I have carried regularly for more than 15 years. Great customer service.

Don’t buy a Spyderco. They have a weird cult following. Much like Subaru and The Beatles. Two things of which SUCK.
I bought my first benchmade a few months back… what a sweet knife! Holds and edge well and sharpens with ease! I forget which model it is but find one within the parameters that you want and I’m sure you wont be disappointed

Benchmade Knives are great quality. If you can’t find a local dealer that you want to use, look on FB, there is a group called Benchmade Traders. LOTS of great deals on there, I’ve purchased two NIB knives for cheaper than online with a discount.

I saw a sign on Old Pond Road on John’s Island yesterday for Benchmade knives for sale. In front of a house. Don’t know anything about it but may stop by some day.
That is Russell Smith on Old Pond. He once sold them at his Smith Family Cleaners, but he retired to have fun on the farm. Great guy.
I bought one for my son at PSA in summerville. I nought the mini griptillian, he loves it and now I’m jealous. Price was in line with everywhere else.

That makes me laugh, I’ve been carrying the same Spyderco for the last 25 years, I actually use mine daily too. Holds an edge better than any Benchmade I own (think I have 4-5) or any other blade I own. Cult following must mean a descerning consumer who buys quality. I drive Ford and Toyota.
Buy a Spyderco and get quality the first time, not some gimmicky opener or weak lock design.

If you want a folder go Spyderco, if fixed blade check Jim Canady in Goose Creek. He will make you whatever you want at a reasonable cost for a custom knife. He has made 3 for me. A mini cleaver, small filet knife, and a kitchen utility knife. I have a Benchmade but my everyday carry is a 25 year old Spyder. For light weight and excellent blade check a Gorham made in Nova Scotia.
I prefer the BM over Spyderco, but NOT because of quality; they are both fine knives. I just like the feel and design of the Benchmade better. The same reason that I have a Springfield XD rather than a Glock. Glocks are fabulous and reliable, but the angle of the grip is not comfortable in my hand. And Bear is correct, there are several local knifemakers that do great work on fixed blades.
in a snap land clearing, is Russell’s real business but he also sells benchmark knives, email me a phone number and I will get it to him. Captmike@saltfisher.com

Besides that I just don’t see $350 for a pocket knife.
Son of a…
Well at least mine was less than half that.
Does Spyerco make an assisted opener with a flipper?

Just ordered a Salt 5 Native from Spyderco… doesn’t have a few features I’ve gotten used to, but it also doesn’t send my money to people that want to amend the 2A. A fair compromise I would say. The knife seems badass and allegedly will not rust because the metal is infused with nitrogen when made. We will see!

Dang that is a lot for a blade. I have a Barlow from back in the day, use it all the time. Sure its old but it does the job.
