Bending Square Tubing

The galvanized guide posts on my trailer are fast approaching the end of their useful life. The ends that get wet when unloading have rusted through. I went to a metal supply place here in Columbia and found I can get 2 pieces of 1.5", heavy walled, square aluminum tubing for about $35. A good bit less than buying ready made guideposts. My only problem is getting them bent. Does anyone here know how/where I might get 2 pieces of square tubing bent?

Thanks

I wonder if a muffler shop could do it for you:question: Have to be cheaper than a machine shop.

Give Happy Bob a call. He is a local (Columbia) aluminum shop guy that does work on the side reasonably. I bet he could bend those up pretty quickly.

I tried that with aluminum and they will bust with the stresses of your boat hitting them. I’d go with galvanized steel.

It all depends on the alloy. 6061 seems to take bending easier than others.

Doug, I could give it a try. I’ve bent 1" X 1/8" wall tube with good results, but have never tried 1 1/2". All I can do is give it a shot.
