Bennetts Point 10/23 Report

Great day on the water. Nice breeze and slick as glass. Set up around 11 on incoming tide. Shrimp were jumping all around the boat. Water was not muddy but stained. Almost like coffee. 3 hours later and about 10 passes had a full cooler of med to large. First Father and son only trip and man can that kid (13 years old) drive a boat and throw a net. Pulled the poles at 2 with shrimp still jumping everywhere. Shrimp gods smiled on us today.

On another note does anyone know about Tarpon in that area? Call me crazy but there were some huge fish jumping way out of the water and they were not dolphins. Swear they looked like Tarpon.

Probably were Tarpon. I’ve caught them as far north as the mouth of the Harbor River

I was fishing in the southern area of BB Saturday in the tournament and we saw one breach or he was just thrown out of the water by the sea state…

Nice cooler! I’ve see lots of tarpon in the sound, never fished for them.

Is bennett point down south off the edisto? Just curious.

The only Bennett’s Point that I know of is between Edisto and Beaufort.

actually more north east… i think?

Just google earth and look for bennetts point road off hwy 17 by the asheepoo river. A long road to a good landing and good people! and then access to many wonderful fishing spots. shhhh .

That is correct. Right off 17 is Bennetts Point Rd. It is just south of Edisto in St Helena Sound. Part of the ACE Basin.
