Bennetts- what happen to the muddy water?

Between work - the weather - and hurricane we were 0-3 for trips to coast. Had to work Sat and be back not late Sun. Finally made it down to sound yesterday. Maybe a dozen trailers at the landing. We go to the money spot to set up. Get to flats and no poles in sight and water is clear?? Not a good sign. Soaked bait - tested - nada - waited longer - tested - nada - went fishing - came back 2 hrs later -ran 6 poles -NADA!:imp: Water still pretty clear on a 6.2’ tide? wth
Pulled poles and went to side of Otter where we had been fishing and saw some muddier water. Got gallon of mixed. Wind died - no-see-ums out OMG - time to go. We did have two huge redfish strikes and a few good hits. None landed. Was beautiful out on the water - just not able to stay after dark to get on the shrimp. That was first time in 10 yrs I have been there and had clear water. Storm do it?
Left about 6 and passed several boats with poles on way out. What’s -up?

I think its been 30 days with no rain. Probably the cause of the clear water.

The lazier tides don’t churn the water as much either.

Good points. Last year the full and new moons all hit on the weekends. This year not. We normally go the day of. We were 5 days past a new moon. It’s more difference than I thought on a 6.2 vs 7.2’ tide. Gonna have to stretch those last 7 packs of shrimp in the freezer from last year. Shrimp were there, we would have had to wait til dusk for the run to start and couldn’t stay. Oh well. It was nice.
Done for this year - always next year.
