Unfortunately, I was being careless/stupid this weekend and backed up while my pole was too low, catching an oyster bed. This bent the bracket and has my pole sitting slightly offset now. I don’t have the tools to properly fix this myself. If anyone knows of a shop in the Charleston area that may be able to adjust/bend back a large transom bracket that would be great.
Edit: the bracket is located between the motor and transom. It extends to the side of the motor.
Thanks in advance guys!
Call power pole.
If their offer is less than acceptable, report back with:
A picture of the bracket.
What type of bracket?
between the motor and hull?
Transom bracket?
Maybe the bracket model number or something so we can see what is wrong and how the bracket is shaped.
Do you have dual poles? Do the brackets need to match?
Maybe think about buying the double bracket. It is much much stronger.
If Power pole offers to replace the bracket, maybe ask for a credit towards the double bracket and buy that.
As long as the bracket is not mounted between the motor and the hull, you can replace them by your self. Just nuts and bolts.
Give the guys at hydrilla gear in FL a call. Great resource for power pole stuff.
Thanks. I’ll attach a pic when I get home but I should’ve included more detail. It’s a single pole mounted between the motor and transom which is why I’m hoping it’s not severe enough to require replacing. I’m located in Charleston, so if there’s anyone local that might be able to address this I’d like to give it a shot.
I’ll definitely give power pole a call to get their recommendation as well.
I would think twice before installing a stronger bracket. Think of the bracket as a sacrificial component should an accident like this occur. I would much rather have to repair or replace a bracket than have the bracket be so strong that instead the entire assembly rip the backing plate and fender washers through the transom.
That’s a very good point and one I noticed immediately. I’m much happier having a bent bracked than a busted transom.
A friend of mine accidentally deployed his by remote control driving down I75 in FL. Powerpole replaced the damaged parts for free. Better the bracket than the transom for sure.
