Best\Affordable RENTER's insurance?

Trying to avoid calling 10 different companies to get 10 different quotes. Anyone have any good experiences? It’s for a house that I am renting and need to insure my personal property (not the house).

You supposedly can get quotes from multiple companies from this one site.

Here is another one.

They will probably all be about the same. It depends on the location, structure, age, heating system etc. Look at what coverage is provided not just fire loss.

HO-4 should be covering the big 15 (or maybe it is 16,17);

Fire or lightning
Windstorm or hail
Explosion
Riot or civil commotion
Aircraft
Vehicles
Smoke
Vandalism or malicious mischief
Theft
Damage by glass or safety-glazing material that is part of a building
Volcanic eruption
Falling objects
Weight of ice, snow, or sleet
Water-related damage from home utilities
Electrical surge damage

Are you a member of a credit union, Skinnee? Depending on the institution you can get deals as low as $5 a month. Also, ask your auto insurance co. as they discount these as a “bundle”.

Of course costs will vary depending on what you inventory with the agent.

I have USAA. I did a claim for a rod last year that blew out of my boat on the way home and it was pleasant and painless.

That is why I have insurance through USAA.

Interesting. No, I am not a member of a credit union. Is this something that I am missing out on? I know what they are, but very little about the benefits, etc. I did have an auto loan through one of them once and the rates were pretty low.

So far I have called:

Progressive - No, we have met our policy cap in your area and can’t write any more policies
USAA - No, you are not military
Liberty Mutual - Oh, you live by the water? Can’t write you a policy
Nationwide - Charleston County is “Coastal Restriction” and can’t write policy there.

Dang, you would think I live at the bottom of a dry river bed or something at the bottom of a dam…

What is happening many major carriers have pulled out of the state or have retreated to the I-95 sever storm line. Shopping for coverage is going to be time consuming but there are carriers out there.

Ask for Sue Hocutt. She has always been a big help and I have all my policies through them.

Agreed with STFulton, we have State Farm renters. A good policy. We didn’t get the higher-end policy but it’s around $10 a month.

Called today and got a renter's policy! They were very helpful.

In the end, I ended up switching my auto over as well! Auto premium at Progressive was $1056 for 6 months. Dropped to $670 moving to State Farm! That was a heck of a drop!!! Could not believe that Progressive was that much more expensive.

Nothing Progressive about that outfit but there premiums. Had boat policy with them worst coverage imaginable and went up for no reason.
