18 ft trailer boat- order off the net, have made in Charleston, or buy from a local marine store, or from a dealer?
you can go to the cabellas site or bass pro and pick out any design that you want. they are not too pricey in my opinion.
Wondering the same thing. 17 Scout CC. Want to be able to install while boat is in the water. Anyone have one of these setups?
I ordered one of those 23-foot Attwoods from Walmart.com (G size) for $89.00 + tax and free shipping to local box store. It’s supposed to have a 3 year warranty on materials. It’s fairly light weight, it’s supposed to be trailerable. I don’t know how it will hold up, but it’s cheaper than 2-3 poly-tarps per year if it lasts 12 months.
Go to Attwoods and find the cover then find a store - Wally didn’t list the 23’ G in their inventory. Gotta hunt it.

As with most things…You get what ya pay for…If ya want it to last spend the money & get the Sumbrella material…just Google around.
Hope this helps!

I bought a cover today from West Marine. Was the right application but a horrible fit. Will return it tomorrow. I am going to try some others but am leaning toward having one made at this time. Like DoubleN said ya get what you pay for. Made the mistake on the last boat of not paying the price for a custom cover from LaPorts. Time spent cleaning and damage done from the elements is not worth it IMO.
any idea what laports price range is for the 18 ft boat?
it depends. you can buy a custom cover with 5 yr warranty, super breathable, hydrostatic, and abrasion resistant, delivered to your boat with strap down kit for $600-900 depending on boat size. Or get a step down cover for $400 with the mildew problems, and a shorter life available through cabelas. go to coastalcushion.com and check out the covers or check out the ad in the Tideline.
There is a boat cover manufacturer from SC named Carver…I think they’re in Lundrum SC. You can buy through site and online. Very nice cover duck canvas…very soft and durable. I would not pull a boat with a cover unless like mentioned before it is anti abrasion and tie downs.
I have done a little research today. LaPorts quoted 600.00 without seeing the boat.(17 Scout CC) Found Carver as WallyGator stated. Local SC company that makes custom fit covers in 3 different materials including Sunbrella. 9.25oz Sunbrella $471.00, 8oz Polly Guard for $282.00, and 11oz Polly-Cotton for $256.00. They do not sell direct but through local stores and online. There is a list at http://www.carvercovers.com/retailers/ Seels is a local retailer and so is www.boatcoversdirect.com. They are in Chesnee SC. If you don’t buy local at least stay in state. I will get one of these within the next week and will post pics.
I’ve used a Ttop covers one for three years now with no problems, covers good and goes on/off easy.
Is mildew a concern with the custom fit covers?
