WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO PUT IN ON MURRAY…BIG BOAT!!!..LONG TRAILER!!!..BEST PLACE FOR BAIT AND TACKLE AND INFO…
lake world and the dam they are right next to eachother
for sure Lake World on the bait, tackle and advice. I like the ramp at Jake’s more than the dam, especially when the lake is low, better angle so you don’t have to back so far down. Jake’s Landing is just south of Lake World, turn right at the Shell station(Jake’s Landing Rd.). However, if you launch at the dam before 7AM or after 8PM there is no charge. I don’t know what Jake’s charges for daily ramp fees as I have been buying an annual pass for the past 19 years and Archie is reasonable on renewals. Plenty of parking at both.
take the extra 5 minutes and go to the other side of the dam. they have 3 nice ramps. jake has gone up to $7 per boat and *****es if you have a tournament and put in there. he complains that we take up all of his parking. well DUH! he took up all of our money. just $3 at the dam if you are in there when the man is working the booth.
almost forgot the center lane at the dam has a big hole so if possible use the outside ones
Usually there isnt anyone working at the dam so we get in for free, but if youre buying herring go to Better Bait they give you cool water with chemicals and they have some fiesty herring.
But I got to stop wishin, got to go fishin
If you are going on a weekend morning they sell bait at the launch on the dam. Makes it pretty convenient. I would agree that Better baits bait is better due to getting clean water with chemicals. But Richard at lakeworld will put you on fish and has more tackle. I wish he had the same setup as better baits. Both are good people, and I always feel bad passing up one for the other.
Richard’s drive-up tanks are being completed soon and will offer the same benefits David has now. Once the road construction is completed Lake World will be much easier to access.
…BIG BOAT!!!..LONG TRAILER!!!.. forget Jakes, it’s a long bumpy ride from the road to the landing, and the parking lot is just a rock filled clay and weed field,
go to the dam
THANKS GUYS…HOPE TO GET UP THERE THIS WEEK…WEEKDAY OF WEEKEND???..IS THE LAKE TRAFFIC BAD THIS TIME OF YEAR WITH SCHOOL BACK IN???

depending on HOW BIG of a trailer you’re talking about, the dam launch may not be too good, it’s a 3 lane launch and fairly narrow for a “big” trailer. you may be better off going to one of the marinas on the north side of the lake.
i can say i’ve seen several 21+ foot center consoles launch with ease at the dam. lots of pontoons launch there as well.
boat traffic will drop precipitously in the next couple weeks. i don’t really think it’s too bad even when “crowded” lake murray is a good size so things tend to spread out once you’re out there.
I’ve launched a 23ft Key West CC there plenty of times whenever Pine Island is closed (late at night) and have never had any problems.
