Swansea says ya’ll want a report, so here you go.
Wednesday - woke up early to shrimp outgoing tide. Boat hooked up, got nets, cooler, was going to grab one more thing but got distracted by my K-9. He was itching to go. I wasn’t planning on taking him but felt guilty, so got his leash & water bowl, and off we went.
Launched boat at Buck Hall, headed to just north of McClellanville.
Once I get there and unstrap my poles, I notice that I forgot one key component - BAIT. Never in my life have I done such a thing. I was livid. Flew back at 5600 rpm’s to Buck Hall, pulled boat out of water and headed back home, thinking my season was over (not knowing if I would have a chance to go again).
Went to work for a couple hours, kept checking forecast - this would be the best day left to go shrimping this season… Irritated and in a foul mood, not wanting to shrimp incoming tide, I finally decide to go for it.
Headed back to Buck Hall, launched boat around 4:00, make it to my destination around 4:35 and set my poles up fairly deep (6-9 ft of water).
Threw first cast just short of 5, thinking I’ll be lucky to cover the bottom of the cooler, wrong tide, wrong location…
1st cast
SWEET!!!
And - it got better… Second, third, every cast beyond filled with shrimp. I have never seen anything like it in my life, consistently, with some casts over quarter cooler. YAY!!! Most often times, the net was so heavy due to the shear weight of all of the shrimp, I had to go to the stern of the boat to get it over the gunnel, no joke. It was easier to throw a 10 ft net than it was to lift it over the gunnel.
Coolered out in just over one pass (1.3) by myself. It was beyond epic, the absolute best day of shrimping in my life! I can only hop
