For Fishing shallow in the Charleston water…what is the best depthfinder for shallow… <<< **Note I ONLY need this degree of accuracy at idle speed !!! >>
Research online>> …everybody seems to say for skinny water you need a low power…read cheap…depthfinder to get a good shallow reading…that a good finder with high power cannot tone it down enought to discern between say 2 or 3 ft of water…
Tech specs i’m seeing are go for 200khz or better 400khz…keep the sounder watts below 1000w
Anybody on this board with a finder that truly gives an accurate reading in skinny water??
I had an old (17yrs old) hummingbird…that was pretty darn good at telling the difference…but it was sold with that boat…
**ALSO – I wonder ?? The bottom in Chas is such mush (read puff mud)…I kinda wonder if is ever possible to get a good reading in shallow??
Would love to hear back from folks if they have a rig setup giving a true read on 1’ 2’
gosh… is this legit eswice? Yes lots of pluff mud, but lots of sand bottom too.
Can’t help you other than the Mr. Obvious yard/meter stick.
Really though are you pulling our chain or are you traveling (not fishing) some some very shallow water? What boat are you running and what is your draft? 2-3 foot will take a lot of boats happily along.
Your first post, I’ll take the big man’s side!
