Best Entry Level DSLR?

Guys, I am looking at the Nikon 3100. Can one of the experts on here list some pros/cons and any other entry level cameras that are good. I want an all round camera with high quality pictures.

Also what accessories will I need. Thanks in advance.

The camera should be just fine. Remember that the quality of your photo will be determined by your understanding on what it takes to shoot a good picture. A good photograph is more dependant on the photographer and not the camera. Learn to shoot in manual mode in lieu of an automatic mode.

I have the Nikon 3100. I am by no means a “pro”. My wife and I wanted a good camera when our daughter was born, and I am very happy with it. It is easy to use and takes great pictures. I have noticed that I could get better pictures by “playing” with it, as mentioned by Luv2fush.

I also have this camera. Its a really great camera. Photo quality is beautiful and will take your picture taking to the next level, maybe two! We got ours for approx $900 in a package with a 55mm and 300mm lens. These two lenses are a great combo.

This is a go to website for me when I am looking at new camera gear.

Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught.

Thanks for all the replys. I think I will go ahead with the 3100

I was looking for a good entry level camera wo play around and learn with without going too crazy and was doing my research on and looking at the D5100, D3100, T3i and T2i. In the end I went with the T2i because it had 18 mp as opposed to the 14 of the d3100 but other than that they were very similar, of course. They are both fantastic cameras and you won’t be dissappointed with either.

One small catch with the 3100 is that it does not have an external mic input. This is a drawback if you were looking at doing any quality videography with it. You can always use external mics and sync up in post if needed however.
