So I’m tying the knot early next summer and apparently I’m charge of the honeymoon destination. My instructions were: somewhere out of the states, somewhere tropical, hopefully an all inclusive resort, but most important somewhere we can fish! Ideally we would like to do some bill fishing and probably tuna as well. I’m thinking the honeymoon will allow for 2-3 days of fishing and the honeymoon will be around June 1st 2013. Any good suggestions? Thanks in advance!
My wife wanted to go out of the country until she realized how much more we could do if we stayed in the states. I know that doesn’t help but we went to the Keys, plenty of fishing
Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

Went to Cabo San Lucas Mexico last year . All inclusive resort , right at Marina . Fished for 3 days . caught an abundance of black , blue , white and striped marlin along with dolphin and tuna. all within 20 minutes of the dock . great place and very affordable too.
Los Suenos, Costa Rica would be my choice. Fantastic fishing, beautiful location, great food, lots of night life if you like it. Lots of other stuff to do like zip lining in the rain forest, seeing volcanos, amazing wildlife and friendly people. It’s not an all inclusive and we rent a condo when we go, for about the same price as a hotel room. There is also a Marriott on the property. Great casino at the Marriott too.
Tip, be very cautious taking your new bride into the Beetle Bar in Jaco:wink:

Heyblue- I like the 20 min ride to fish, and the idea of there still being a resort! What time of year did you go?
Larry- I’m gonna look into the Marriott, I’ve heard a lot of good things about CR. thanks for all the input guys!
Hurricane, we love Florida but we have family and have both fished there before so we want to broaden our fishing experience. Pluff how are the resorts in Honduras??
If I were you, and planning to be there 3 days or more, I’d get a condo instead of a room the Marriott. There is a lot to be said for kitchens, washers and dryers. It really cuts down on the clothes you need to pack and you can come home with everything clean and not smelling like fish and jungle, and with a better experience overall.
This is who we book through and they are a first class outfit. http://crluxury.com/
Edit: It’s also the best fishing I’ve had anywhere in the world. One day we caught 23 sailfish, 3 marlin, a dozen wahoo, some tuna, dolphin and a roosterfish, all within sight of land

a ton of good replies here, but thought I’d add my 2 cents. Ambergris Caye, the town of San Pedro Belize was simply amazing for lots of reasons, but the fishing was just incredible. Took a chartered trip and just fought constantly. 4 or so huge baracuda (which you can eat in that part of the world), 2 huge mahi, and lots of beer. I think there may have been a jack in the mix. Anyway, it was a blast and we left with more cleaned fish than we could eat in a week. Anyway, it’s not very far, super beautiful and wont break the bank.
Hey Skillet, I looked into a vacation a few years back in belize, and thought it look amazing, but that was more of a sport vacation. Could it be considered a romantic destination also? I hate to say it but the pictures Larry sent in that link are going to be hard to beat!! Thanks ya’ll for all the help so far!
if you dont want to catch baracuda go to cabo. went there on my huneymoon and caught blue marlin, dolphin , and tuna. short ride. the stripe marlin bite there is unreal. not very tropical but a good time.
We’ve been to San Pedro a few times and have always stayed at the Xanadu Resort. It’s a great condo, very reasonably priced and very nice. http://xanaduislandresort.com/
But it’s not as nice, and the fishing isn’t as good as Los Suenos, Costa Rico:wink: Price is about the same.

Went to Quepos Costa Rica for my 5 year anniversary. Wife doesn’t fish so we didn’t but it is supposedly best fishing in the world second only to Charleston We did the canopy tour and rode horses. Food was good and people very friendly.
"A fellow was on his honeymoon near his favorite fishing lake and he would fish from dawn to dark with his favorite fishing guide.
One day the guide, friend of many years, mentioned that the honeymoon seemed to be spent fishing.
“Yes, but you know how I love to fish…”
“But aren’t you newlyweds supposed to be into something else?”
“Yes, but she’s got gonorrhea; and you know how I love to fish”
A few hours later, “I understand, but that’s not the only way to have sex.”
“I know, but she’s got diarrhea; and you know how I love to fish…”
The following day: “Sure, but that’s still not the only way to have sex.”
“Yeah, but she’s got phyrrea; and you know how I love to fish…”
Late that afternoon, thoroughly frustrated the guide comments, “I guess I’m not sure why you’d marry someone with health problems like that.”
“It’s 'cause she’s also got worms; and you know I just love to fish…”
