Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Dodge’s gas station!!!
Speaking of tourist traps, if you have ever thought of going down to the market and eating at the place that supposedly specializes in shrimp, is named after a movie starring Tom Hanks, and is based on life in Greenbow Alabama, you will be in the biggest tourist trap of all. Food was decent, and I would really like to go there one time and booze it up. The menu of drinks was cool and the scenery is outstanding. It is the biggest trap of all in my opinion but I can see how the marketing and advertising they do would attract those that have no local knowledge.
Did everybody forget about locklears you can eat some pretty good fried seafood there for 10$ are less. But seewee and the wreck are just as good.
I’m speechless that Hy#%@'s was mentioned here! There should be some kind of screening process for this website. Two questions are all you need: Are you from Ohio? and Do you like Hy#%@'s?
Make friends with a local Charleston fisherperson and get them to invite you to their house after a trip on the flats. Nothing better than fresh local redfish filets coated in Zattarain’s Crispy coating and deep fried (outside on the porch, of course - no stinkin’ up my kitchen or messin’ up my cook top!)
Amen h20gul. They just taste better when cooked outside. The beer goes down better too and I can get away with firing up a fine aged cigar!
Long Enuff
Funny you say that, Long E! The hubster can get away with firing up a non stinky cigar (fine?) when he’s frying up fresh fish on the porch. Cigars are fine as long as he doesn’t pick up those Marlboros again! He finally quit smoking this past April after starting when he was a teenager, so he can do pretty much anything he wants to now. I’m hoping he’ll be around to fish with me lots more years now.
i agree with freed-em. locklear’s has a ■■■■ good grouper sandwich. the fried oysters/tues==fried shrimp/wed.—fried flounder/thurs. the lunch price is good and their coleslaw is tasty. i used to eat there every two weeks at least once and maybe twice when i was traveling to charleston on a regular basis. give it a try.
The Wreck would probaly be one of the best choices.
