Best Fried Seafood in Chucktown

My mom is in town from out west. Wants to eat some good local fried seafood. Anybody have any suggestions?

The Wreck on Shem Creek.

BINGO on both the above. Make sure she dresses up for the occasion.

SeeWee Restaurant in Awendaw… worth the drive. usually music on Saturday and it’s a great time. I always take my folks there when they are in town.

fritz would tell you the wreck i had a disagreement with the owner and havent been there in 15 years. from what i understand its still greasy with downtown prices

waters edge has a great fried seafood platter as does shem creek bar and grill

We went to RB’s because my mom had a bro in law tell her it was good. I was skeptical because I prefer smaller places. We had a tremendous dining experience. Service was fantastic, food was well cooked and delicious. The drinks were free pour and good and strong. Sites were great with lots of nice looking amenities. Lima beans were the best I have ever had. I am not one for the big joints, because I think they cater more to advertising to tourists than cooking good food, but I would recommend RB’s to anyone. I will go back again soon. I did not care for the 18% tip added because we had seven(3 of those were under five), I like to be the judge of the tip. The world is not perfect. Red’s was rocking.

I love Seewee, we stop there all the time when coming back from Charleston. Wreck is good too. I wasn’t too impressed with Red’s but have only eaten there once.

Of course for a true tourist experience you cannot beat the long lines and crappy food at Hymans.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

i actually havent been there in years… i dont get out much… buddy started running the kitchen maybe 2 months ago. ive had his food and it is first class… hes the guy that had moneyhums BBQ on clememts ferry rd… good fellas

I have been to all of the above places…T.W. Graham’s in McClellanville is prehaps the best fried shrimp and flounder I have ever had. And to top it off they have unbeatable fried orka…Only 25 to 30 minute drive from MP and well worth it.
