Best Hidden Beaches? (beaching the boat)

and shuffle their feet along the bottom!! less likely to get stuck by a stingray that way!!

If you go to the so-called “No Name Beach” stay close to the creek on the east side of SC Dept of Natural Resources building. There is a pipe partially buried and a lot of other crap in the water towards Fort Sumter. Zoom in on Google Maps and you can actually see the pipe.

Unfortunately, the first time I found that pipe wasn’t on google maps…

Some of you piss and moan about the crowds and I just laugh…OP…ride up the. ICW north about an hour from IOP and go out to Cape Island at Cape Romain . All the solitude you want.

No solitude at Cape Romain anymore…full of trash and no sand left. No where to walk around all roped off for turtles and birds pooping everywhere… Just a bunch of boats tied up together in a redneck yacht club setting…South near Charleston is way cleaner and less crowded…Red pm sent

Sandy point has been overrun by hooligans the past few summers. I don’t take my family there anymore for that reason. Swing d’s loud music contests, lots of drunk underage kids, lots of bad language. A shame, no longer a family place. It’s nice in the winter though when the crowds are gone.

This person found a hidden beach this past Saturday. They were there for a while.

Looks like they were prepared, at least. lol.

Is the north end of Capers generally less crowded than the south end? We camped there overnight once but haven’t been just for a beach day.

Sandy beach is long enough that even on a holiday weekend you can find solitude. At low tide you can find your own piece of real estate numerous places. There are some inlet sandbars at stono that are exposed for access at low tide a mile out. Definite solitude there and sharks for days for the kids to catch from the beach thats available for a few hours. No name beach is crap at low tide and there are bunch of ways to cut your feet with oysters and old power cables. A nice sandbar forms next to the fort, we’ll see how long that lasts before the park service kills it and denies access. Sandy beach’s days are numbered too with the morris island crowd migrating south since north morris is under water. There are other areas that people rarely go that seem to miss the crowds for some reason. Most of the time the access deters most in fear of grounding their sick wrapped floating rap video. Ill keep those under wraps for now.

^^^ditto on Sandy beach, which is the end of Kiawah if that hasn’t been clear. It’s a pleasant cruise down the Stono to get there, about 30-40 minutes depending on how fast. We also go to Morris at lighthouse because my wife likes to shell there but it’s crowded and we typically don’t stick around long. Sandy point does get crowded along that point at the creek inlet but you can move down the beach towards ocean to get away and not have anyone within 100 yards of you. - what we usually do if we have the dog with us. A lot of people fish that inlet for whiting and such. At both Sandy and Morris, I usually throw a line in to soak while I’m hanging out and typically get a small shark or two for fun. They are inlets so the current can rip pretty good at peak tides so be aware/prepared for that with a second anchor if you have it. And unless you want to spend the day beached like the boat above, anchor accordingly in the tide. You’ll be high and dry quicker than you think on the outgoing!..or swimming to your previously beached boat on the incoming.

We’re going to check out Sandy Beach this weekend if weather permits. Last weekend, we found a pretty large unoccupied sandbar in the Stono. The dogs had a great time running around while we ate lunch.

Dude, I’ve been going to Sandy Point for years and this is not true. Yes more people are going to Sand Point, mostly because Morris Island is pretty much gone, and the volume of people with boats has increased dramatically. There are a few bad eggs from time to time, but for the most part it’s pretty easy going. Was just there this past Saturday, and there were plenty of families around having a good time. Some boats playing loud music, but the music was clean, and I didn’t hear anyone running around spewing bad language.
