Taking the family out for some fun in the sun. Any recommendations for a good sandy place to beach the boat? I’m putting in on the Stono. Avoiding the Limehouse sandbar, looking for something more family friendly.
Botany island across from Seabrook. There are signs on the beach about trespass but that refers to the island inferior. Fishing is permitted from the beach.

As long as you stay below the high tide line!
not sure of the name of the place, someone told me once it was called No Name Island, but it’s right beside Fort Sumter…Been there a lot…good place to anchor up and hang out…
Sandy point probably the best place to take the family from the Stono. Tons of beach, family friendly. Also I’ve heard No Name Island referred to as spider island and while it is a nice beach to take the family, proximity wise probably not the best choice from the Stono.

I second sandy point…but it does get crowded especially on the weekends.

That beach does have some crap stuck in the mud that will definitely put a hole in your boat. IMHO, the best spot to anchor at that beach is along the sand bar that’s closest to the little creek on the southern end.

The place in the photo above is fun for the kids. I’ve never fished there, though. Anyone had any success fishing from a spot in the above photo? Maybe letting the kids play while tossing a line in could be a fun day. Reds, trout, flounder in that creek mouth? Or are sharks or whiting prevalent on the inlet side? Just wondering if anyone’s had success there.
The first rule of having a hidden beach is…
23 says you only need 20 baits for a day of fishing.
^^^ yup.
If sandy point is a hidden beach then wapoo cut is a secret boat landing. Just letting flywatt know of a place he can take his family from the stono. Good luck finding a “hidden” beach ha

Mr Kiosk the first place I would try is the little point between the breaking waves and the beach. It offers a “choke” point. Anything that rolls around either side is funneled through that area. Putting bait in that area gives a better chance that fish will pass by your bait. Think of the breaking waves/sand bar as a fence on one side and the beach as another fence on the other funneling the fish through that “choke point” area. If walking down the beach from the creek it is the third little point with the darker water just out front and waves just off beach. I could be wrong, but it is where I would target first.
Makes sense. Thanks for your thoughts, runbabyrun.
The backside of kiawah sandy point is good but the currents and conditions get deadly there and the fishing is the same as any where else.

If masses of tourists can’t drive their vehicles and destroy it by numbers, it’s hidden enough for me!

The fact you asked this type of question on this website speaks volumes
We saw two boats that found hidden beaches yesterday…one was high and dry between Crab Bank and the golf course and the other was even higher and dryer beached near Pitt Street Park. Sea Tow had 2 boats heading out…there was no way they were getting pulled off those flats…unless Sea Tow could pull a boat a quarter mile or several hundred yards!

No doubt. I used to like catching the tide right and hanging out on Pritchards Island. Used to be able to drop trou and enjoy the place to yourself. No more.
Flywatt, where ever you decide to stop make sure the kids have some good foot wear on. If your kids are like mine they’ll find every sharp shell or chunk of glass to be had.
