Best Internetz/Cablez for JI?

What are the options for James Island around the Ellis Creek area? I know Comcast is one, but are there any others that are better? Pro’s, Con’s?

I don’t need a home phone, just cable and high speed internet.

Anyone?

Knology maybe? Think they might have just changed their name to Wow or something similar. Had knology a while back. Internet wasn’t scary fast, but always worked. Customer service was far and away better than Comcast. Plus they didn’t make ya sign a contract so you can just try it out.

Look into ATT U-Verse and see if it is your area. I have it on JI. Not saying it is a whole lot better than Comcast. But it is an option.

All in all, I prefer it over Comcast.

are you moving back? are you back now?

PeaPod, moving back in a few weeks. I already have a house rented though (vacant) and want to get it hooked up before I get there. I have peeps in town that can be there when the cable company comes.

Thanks for the list… Any strong opinions about knowlogy? Do they have great tv channels, etc?

Knology (Wow) is comparable to all the others as far as CATV goes. We’ve got digital cable with a DVR and I love it.

Internet, on the other hand has been problematic. We’ve had a half dozen service calls over the last couple years for loss of service and have been told different things by each service guy that came out. Everything from home’s cable needs to be re-run to too many splits to “its your router”.

Been running ok since last service guy came out and fiddled with it though. Never have really gotten a straight answer on what the bug is. We’ll probably change providers if another issue comes up.

That is what I needed to hear. I work from home so "up time" is important for me. What is worse is when they schedule you to fix it 5 business days later. Thanks for the detail!

welcome back.

if you change it up and go poor-man redneck soulbrother fishin inshore, i’ll probably see you out there.

I'm always up for a trip if you can put me on some action... I'm definitely not above the inshore thing.

I like to sit under the cosgrove bridge and drink malt liquor and catch pinfish with the locals. we grind em up and make some sweet fishcakes.

i’ll holla
