Best knot for fluorocarbon

I want to start using fluorocarbon leader and having difficult time tying a good knot to hooks and swivels. Does anyone have a suggestion, and alink to a video would be very helpful. I tried the palomar knot but without much success.

clinch (“fisherman’s knot”), uni, and loop knots all work fine for me, and uni-to-uni when joining fluoro or mono to braid.

Clinch x2. Uni to Uni if using braid… Here’s a link for ya!

Always wet the knot before you cinch it down too.

You aren’t doing something right because floro to a swivel or hook is no different than tying with mono. Try wetting the line as mentioned previously.

If tying to braid without any swivel, I like the improved surgeon’s knot.

Thanks for the replies. The video link was very helpful.

I use the Palomar knot exclusively for tying hooks, swivels, lures, etc. with mono, fluorocarbon, or braid. It has the highest knot strength (it won one of the series on Berkley Knot Wars) and is probably the easiest knot to tie. If you are having problems with it, it might be that you need to wet it as others have suggested or just keep practicing it. Sometimes I will pre-tie leaders to octopus style hooks using a snell to have ready just in case I break off, but I tie the leader to the swivel with the Palomar.

I really like the San Diego knot for tieing on hooks or lures. Don’t know a link, but you can probably google it. It will not slip and seems to absorb some of the shock from strong hooksets, helping to prevent me from breaking off fish while setting the hook.
