what is the best striper lure?
The one that catches stripers!
Sorry, I could’nt resist.
You’d be better off by posting in the striper forum. There are a lot of knowledgable folks who are willing to give some good advice.
During our little tournament on Sat., we used big jigging spoons, Pencil Poppers, larger Rattletraps, and big broke back Rapalas.
I’m still learning myself, so I’m probably not much use to you. Check out the striper forum.

My two favorites have always been old fashioned bucktails and, for topwater, striper swipers but a lot depends on time of year and where you’re fishing.
…a striper swiper?? man that’s right out of 1970’s
I can elevate your striper game:
#1 20 lb PowerPro braid green or red (any good 17-20# braid)
#2 1/2 oz white Spro bucktail jig tipped with white trailer (for trolling)
#3 3/4 oz chrome/blue Rattletrap (fan cast)
#4 Super Spook, replace hooks w/ 2/0 Gamagat trebles colors: clear, chart, frog, blue
#5 at night troll Stretch 25’s You can troll a Stretch 25 down to 43 feet with braid so be mindful of your depth and speed. They are designed to go to 25 Feet with 17# mono.
That should bring you up to at least 2011!

A green and white clouser works good too. Nothing wrong with a striper swiper. Some things are timeless.
All white or green/white Spro bucktail with white Zoom fluke trailer would be the lure if I had to pick just one. Burn it, jig it, troll it, or swim it…it works all the time!
