I’m in need of a map card for my hds gen2. I primarily fish lake Murray now and every now and again make it to the coast for a week of inshore stuff. Who’s got a similar setup and whats the best software for up here? I never bought a card when I bought the unit, so unless I saved my downscan to an SD card, I only have the basic maps and they suck for finding good contours.
Thanks ahead for any advice.

I’ve never tried any others, so I don’t have anything to compare to, but I use the Navionics lakes chip and been very happy with it.
If you go with Navionics, keep in mind SC is on the East version of the chip, not South.

Get the Navionics + Marine & Lake chip
You can download whatever region of lakes or coastal areas that you want. The Hot Maps has satellite imagery but to me that is a waste of money because I don’t really use the imagery.
Thanks for the help! I’ll check into those.

I’ve always had the Navionics lakes chip. I upgraded it to Navionics Plus a couple of yrs. ago. I’ve been pleased with it. But once again like Tim, I’ve never used anything else, so I have nothing to compare it to.

Use the card that is designed best for your unit. Alot of people cant compare chips because they have only had 1 type of unit. (Nothing wrong with that, i have only ever owned Navico products)
Navico (lowrance, simrad, eagle)uses Navionics
Johnson outdoors (hummingbird) uses Lake Master
Garmin has their own i believe its called lakeVu
I believe most raymarine users use Navionics as well.
