Dumb question but if I am leaving the harbor and headed south towards kiawah reef (4ki) is it safe to cut through dynamite hole and run south or is it best to pass the jetties and hang a right? Have a 22 ft boat.
Any word on sheepshead bite at 4ki versus lowcountry anglers reef?
Thanks!
I’ve made that run in my boat through dynamite hole. But it’s a long haul. I prefer to launch from cherry point landing if going to 4ki. I think it cuts the distance on the water in half.

Definitely will trailer next time. We are gonna leave from our creek tomorrow though and may end up hitting Lowcountry anglers and save 4ki for when
I trailer it. Good call. Either way- it’s ok to cut out of dynamite hole and no risk of running aground or breakers headed out that way? I see a blue zone that says “breakers” just past the buoys for dynamite hole. Pretty safe at low still?
Many have run aground there including me. A stuck boat and breakers make the pucker factor greater. I have done it successfully many times since though.
If you go to LCA, it’s only another 10 mi or so south to 4 KI. LCA with scattered low relief rubble. 4KI, ABOUT 10-15 FT MORE WATER , and lots of choices on structure.
4KI also about 14 mi, by water, from Folly ramp; plus the added thrill of running Stono Inlet
