Just curious, say you got a vehicle stuck in the ditch or something along the dirt roads in the FMF, who would you call? towing company or Forest Ranger?
Are you asking for a “friend”?
I don’t know sorry. I would think if you contact the Forest Rangers they would have a solid answer for you (or your friend). I am sure the rangers have been asked before.

Ive had a Warn HS9500i on the front of my last 4 trucks, have yet to make a phone call, but once you get a winch you better be ready for all your friends to start calling you when they do something stupid…
I took my tractor to work on a new spot. It rained while I was in the woods. When I went to leave, the truck got stuck due to the weight of the tractor. I had to take the tractor off the trailer, take the trailer off the truck, move the trailer with the tractor, and pull the truck out with the tractor. Then…put it all back together to leave. Dang! If you get a tractor, buddies will be calling you all the time about the tractor too.

There’s no reason for your truck to be stuck in a ditch or in the fmnf. Stay on the road and if it looks sketchy get out and walk through it before you decide to go blasting through it and get stuck. Ive pulled my share of people out but I’ve never been stuck because if it looks too soft to drive in I’ll just park and walk.

Call a towing company and ask if they do off-road recovery. You will find most won’t and those that do, will seriously lighten your wallet, cash only usually. Forest Rangers may help, but may not be very happy you are driving off the road either, but I wouldn’t personally call them. A good come-a-long or farm jack with some rigging can get you out if you don’t have a winch, or a friend who does.
