Was drift fishing inshore of ft sumter (years ago) with 2 bigger than finger mullet on double rig looking for big inlet flounder in ~20ft water (8’ ugly stick + 20lb test). Picked up something heavy on line that seemed like trash, but when I started to reel, i thought it may have been moving slightly. When it got close to boat, rod doubles over twice quickly, then nothing. Hook was an arrow. Does any other fish/shark act like this besides flounder? Sharks always run for me and large rays can’t accelerate like this did.

Sounds like a big flounder to me. That being said, I have had many species of fish not realize they were hooked or swim strait to you until they see the boat. Then they bolt. My dad always says," If it gets away, you can call it what ever you want to."

…and it can be as big as you want it to be.
