Anyone know of tackle shop that sells "large " mudminnows at a higher price than the regular ones? Fished today caught 10. All short.
I think Perry’s in Murrells Inlet does that, but I don’t know of any in the LR area. I always ask Cornwell for some nicer ones if he has plenty and they usually do it. Get a bait trap and find good spots. Also, there are a few good finger mullet out, but you gotta find em.

Split a fresh Blue Crab in half put it in you minnow trap and but it near the reeds in an inlet. We catch 50+ mud minnows about 10± a few will be JUMBO minnows. In about 30 minutes to an hour we can have about 40-50 Big ones.

I use dog food in a rubber glove. A) Because it puts off a nice grease scent. B) Because it floats to the top of the minnow bucket and the glove keeps it from hanging out of the basket. To each their own, I’m sure there are more stinky things you could put in your minnow bucket to attract them.

LB,
This might be a crazy question. Do you use dry dog food or can stuff? Growing up, we always used a frozen blue crab or piece of greasy chicken from the freezer.

I use dry dog food…I think that the wet would work but would lose it’s scent faster. With the dry the water hits it and it puts the scent in the water, then the water starts to soak into the food continuously putting off the scent.

My wife just told me what we pay for dog food. I will not be using it in my minnow trap.
Ha…Cheap dog food works as well or cat food.
