I’ve been using small minnows and cut brim tying to catch this monster bass by my aunts dock. I’ve hooked it 6 times but cant manage to keep it on…its either not taking the bait all the way or im using the wrong hook. Any suggestions about what type of hook to use?? Also im attempting the catch on a cane poll to increase the fun-o-meter. Thanks for the help!
What kind of hook are using now and if ur catching him on cut brim it be good to have a 3/0 circle hook.
circle hook is what everyone has been telling me too. Ill give that a try…went again last night but only lasted 20 mins before the famous upstate storm came out of nowhere.

It’s cool that you’re using a cane pole, but I just wonder if it has enough ass to set that hook, andrew. might try a metal rod

hey try using a gamagatsu bass hook or owner bass hook like what you would use for a weedless plastic worm rig i have used those with minnows and it works fine plus you can set the hook realy good with that cane pole
we use to do the same thing back home. except we would take a smallish live bream and thump him in the head to make him flutter. the big bass would take it in head first everytime…count to 5 and then cross her eyes…worked like a charm.
