I know that guy,nice fish…

I am going Thursday. I sure am going to try and tie or catch one that big. You reckon a marlin bait will work on a bull like this.

You never know…I have got some 40 plus pound fish on cut squid and 12 lb fish on decent sized live mullet… right place at the right time is the only thing I have learned… and I am still not sure where that is…

Where we are going Thursday there is a nice little temp break in 130 to 180 ft ledge. A few weeks ago we caught 17 dolphin in about 2 hrs. and lost one that looked to be over 30 lbs. I guess trial and error will tell. I do believe that diesal engines have something to do with it vs. four stroke motors.

Nice catch…looks like something got his tail.

Why do you think that?

This was a fantastic fish but I must confess…I was the wire man on this fish not the reel man. A friend of mine from Virginia (Drew), his neighbor (Steve), my son Wes, his best friend Kenny were the guys reeling fish that day. Ken Wooley and I were running the back of the boat.

This fish hit a pink/white squitch and I handed the rod to Steve and the fight was on. Little did we know, while trying to clear lines, this fish had no idea he was hooked so he swims over to the short rigger and inhales a blue/white so I hand it off to Drew. Two 50 wides were now fighting this fish and NOW he knows that he is hooked!!! Great story behind it. Official weight was 52.2 lbs.

This was our 4th fish in the box. After toasting a great catch, all of a sudden 4 lines go off and as Ken and I try to clear lines, we hook up as well. So now we have 6 very nice dolphin hooked up and it was on. We ended up pitching baits & putting 10 more in the boat on that flurry and none were anywhere close to being slingers!!!

It was a great day and I was glad to have my son & his friend along with us. It was Kenny’s first trip trolling and he caught his first dolphin(s).:sunglasses: Thanks again to Jimmy for letting us pile on his boat and for putting us on the fish.

Can’t wait for the Tailwalker this weekend…the Crazy Love crew is gonna try to bring a 50lb King to the dock!!!

That’s a mighty nice bull…
You should have gotten him to stand in front of my Black Watch so I could see if it’s still floating. Too bad y’all weren’t fishing the G’Town Tournament…a smaller ‘phin cashed in for over $15K. I hope to get the Double Dare fixed so I can get in on the action before it gets too hot.
I’ll be down on the boat this weekend turnin’ a wrench…come by and say hello…

The unusual tail actually was either a birth defect or happened at an early age because it didn’t appear to be a healed wound. Either way it was a beautiful fish.

See ya at Belle Isle Wolakrab. We are actually going down today (Thursday) to get ready for the Tailwalker. You do need to get that boat fixed, you guys are missing a great bite going on right now. By the way it was still floatin when I left there Sunday.

…film at 11

I’ll be there Friday in the bilge cussing and sweating. I know it will be good for a laugh, so stop and enjoy the show. The kicker is once I get it fixed, I have inventory next weekend and have to work the Saturday after that…it’s going to be the end of the month before I can even think about fishing. Y’all leave a few out there for me, OK? Please??
