The whole law school thing in Columbia is really getting in the way of fishing lately, but I managed to get down this weekend and fish a few of my old spots at the jetties that I haven’t been to yet this year. I had a charter Sunday and I decided to pre-fish on Saturday to make sure the fish were still around my old spots. I took my dad out Saturday, loaded up with Menhaden, and hit the jetties. 4 hours later we headed in after releasing 13 big reds and 5 or 6 bonnetheads.
My group Sunday was great and very easy to fish with. We headed out around the jetties and fished cut baits all day and tore up the fish again. Ended up with 14 big reds, 1 bonnet head, and 4 other sharks up to 6 feet. I was using cut ladyfish, bluefish, and bonita but anything would have worked.
Didn’t get any monster reds, but all were in the 30"-38" range. The huge ones are around there, just didn’t find them this weekend. Still a great couple days on the water…now back to reading.
On a side note, every time I fish I seem to end up near the Captain with the pretty dark blue Scout. I think it is Capt. David or something but not positive. He has been tearing them up as well.
