Got my 2nd biggest on Saturday
Wasn’t the only big one caught in Charleston either

First good job on the trout and thanks for the tips. It seems that color has become a go to for you, I will have to get some more trout eyes and that pattern of bait you mentioned, some how I lost mine with out even using them. Second I slipped in to south side bait and tackle( a nice store which carries some items most of the other stores don’t and has a good likeable employee named Kyle who was helpful) on my way to Edisto and noticed they had the New Trout Eye Buck tails you make there. I will have to get me some (forgot my card) because they look good and I know the gold eye is productive, I also may have to get the red trout eyes since they are tournament winners now. What was the winner of the Summerville tournament.

That combo has caught tons of quality fish for me this late winter / spring. Not sure why really, I suspect its just very visible to the fish which gets their attention. All i know is it works for me
South Side Tackle is formerly Bohicket Creek Bait and Tackle - they moved to a new location (probably much better traffic there now). Good people for sure. We don’t ever plan to have the bucktails be a big thing, but they requested carrying them - they work great, just very labor intensive to manufacture.
Thanks for your support…

Nice fish Dave. I am going to slip a tracker on your boat. I know that fish must have came from Bull’s Bay.

Very nice fish sir! Keep up the good work!

Very nice Dave. I’m taking some Trout Eye jigs to the Keys in June to see if I can tantalize those Florida fish with them. I wonder how one of those Buck tails would do down there?

Question for you - Last Fri the bite was on fire. Got prob 20. All solid fish, several 3-lbs. Went friday and got like 3, Sunday 4, Yesterday (Monday) probably around 15. My folks yesterday kept 5. When I filleted them, every stomach was dead empty. Seems like if they had empty stomachs they would be more aggressively feeding? Almost all on live shrimp (I got a handful on DOA’s). Curiously, a couple weeks ago I was on a smoking bite. Two teen girls caught 30 and missed more than that. I let them keep 5 and every stomach was empty. Seems like that’s the way it should be. Empty stomach should = agressive bite?

Maybe it was the water temp? I forgot to check it…

Thanks Dave, great report!

I’m not sure but I’m pretty sure you’re playing me. I’m not taking the bait, but from what I think you wrote the stomach was empty on the aggressive bite. Serious question for you, why do you think their stomachs were empty? Maybe post spawn? IDK honestly

Lol. I’m being serious. Didn’t make sense. 2 weeks ago agressive bite - empty stomachs. Fri good bite, but didn’t keep any. Sat and Sunday crummy bite and didn’t keep any either. Yesterday, decent bite, keep 5 and every stomach 100% empty. 4 of the 5 were females and each had 2 nice plump roe sacs. Logic tells me between nothing in their bellies and water temp on a stead rising trend it should be a consistent bite? Cheet, I dunno…

Maybe it was the big moon?

I dunno either but I’m enjoying catching them when I’m able
