I caught this last week fishing with the wife…the pic is not the best but you can see the size of this red with my hand on it…It was over 50 inches…I have never seen a red this big . For the first 20 min I thought it was a shark. I reaaaly wanted to pull it in the boat for a good pick but figured it might hurt this bad boy…Im guessing 45-50 pounds?
Wow!
Don’t have a knack for makin motors crank,

Awesome for not pulling the fish in the boat. I bet that was tough!
You realize now you’ll never impress the wife with those little 20 an 30 inch reds anymore…
Great fish!

Nice fish! You the man for not putting it in the boat for a pic. I’m not so sure I would’ve had that much discipline. We’ve seen em up on Cedar Island, NC like that and up to 60" before. Great fish, nonetheless!
WOW!!!
Holy cow that’s a BULL!!!
A wise man once said “Do as I say not as I do” Good advice when I tell you that.
I am impressed with your ability as a fisherman but more impressed with your virtue as a sportsman.
Cheers.
I commend your sportsmanship and concern for the resource.

Awesome fish, I had to look it up and found that the SC State Record Red Drum was caught at Murrels Inlet in 1965 and weighed 75 Pounds, don’t know if this fish is that big but I agree that it’s 50 lbs+ atleast, maybe 60.
But then again, how the heck would I know? I’ve never seen a 60 LB redfish:smiley:
Anyway, DAAAAANG NICE FISH SON!
thanks for making me not regret keeping it in the water…it was a hard decision but my wife and boys have a great memory of this monster…I caught it on live mullett…you know where…what is the local record red anyhow?
Don’t know of any “local” record keeping, but State record is 75# caught at Murrells Inlet in 1965
Congratulations! That thing is a BEAST!!!
