We didn’t take time to measure it or weigh it… pulled it on the boat and took a few quick pictures and put the big girl back in the water. She pulled out of the boga and hauled ass.

I know someone that will say they have caught bigger. It ain’t me or Peapod. Good looking fish!

If “Banana Boat Laurie’s” left hand is 3.5" wide…fish measures close to 46"…would not surprise me if it was bigger. Me and Capt were thrilled the water was still cool. Catching one that big in hot water would have been trouble.

Thats a trophy red anywhere in the world. Red of a lifetime most likely for who ever caught it. Bonus points for holding it well and having the date in the pic. I would have no problem believing thats a 50 plus. Id say close to mid 50s based off pics. Side note they do get bigger but good luck beating it.

50"? Might be…it was long as the coffin box lid on the deck.

That’s what I’m talking about!!! No matter it’s “official” length or weight, neither can compare to the joy and exhilaration that comes from catching a fish of a lifetime. Hell, simply being there when somebody else catches their “personal best” of any fish is exhilarating.
Amazing catch! Also even a bigger congratulations on the healthy release. Too many times we see these big girls floating by when taken out the water just a little too long or not revived long enough.
Again congrats on a great catch for sure!
also, claim what do you charge to catch bait and clean up a small boat? lookin for summer help for my personal trips. I could go as high as $5 an hour-cheap beer, fried chickn and boilt pnuts included. thanks buddy.

I’m good with cheap beer and fried chicken. Boiled pnuts and $5.00/hour would be a raise. I’d be in tall cotton.
And I come with go-pro cameras.

Are you saying he’d squelch on the beer, fried chicken and p-nuts.
BTW…need to make something clear before we go too far…I don’t want no gas station fried chicken. I want grocery store or most preferred…BoJangles fried chicken.
(Unless you get fried chicken livers from Parkers gas stations. Those are actually decent.)

Married…or she claimed she was. She had a Harley dude with her.
Banana Boat Laurie. That’s the name we gave her 2 summers ago when she was with us. It was a difficult day. We must have had the anchor slip at least 10 times and could not get it to set. Then it rained on us. We were more and more frustrated and couldn’t even get a bite even after we finally got the anchor to hold…
…then she opened her ice chest and right there. On top. A huge bunch of yellow bananas.
“Captain! Bruce (I call everybody on the boat Bruce) has bananas in her cooler!!!”
“No way! Let me see. (**(), that explains everything.”
Bruce/Laurie says…“what’s up with bananas?”
“They’re bad luck!!!”
Before you knew it, Bruce/Laurie snatched that bunch of bananas out of her cooler and thew them as far she she could. Ka-plunk.
Within minutes, the sun came out and we hooked up on, I think a shark. We’ve called her Banana Boat Laurie ever since. She did not bring bananas on this trip.

That is a nice fish. here's a 32pound fish
After being released, a lot of fish die, but a lot of them live also.
