Thought we had another red or something when the drag was being pulled. Nope… just a grown croaker.
I used to fish out of Murrels Inlet and had one spot that I caught nice big croakers all the time. They are pretty good eating. The best part about that fish is the smile on the little ladys face. She will remember that one.
WOW!!#=!! I didn’t know Croakers got that big. Did you weigh it by chance???
“The big one’s still swimming, let’s go.”

Great catch! Up in the Cheasapeake Bay, we would catch really big croaker on a regular basis. Don’t know why it wouldn’t be the same here. Spots would usually grow to a larger size in the bay as well.

Wow, that’s a full grown croaker there! I’ve never seen one that large, not even sure I would have recognized it as a croaker.
That’s another species that we don’t catch nearly as many of now as we used to.
Nice catch:sunglasses:

Nice croaker. 15 years ago we would catch croakers up to 23 inches in the Chesapeake Bay. Sometimes two at a time on a bottom rig.
X2 on the Chesapeake. My uncle lives up there and the few times I’ve went croaker fishing with him I have hung in to some pretty massive croaks.
Awesome catch!!!
