Bimini twist

I went to a seminar today with laird from low country angler. Did a great job by the way. Just a question though. Are ya’ll using a Bimini twist when you arent fishing for billfish?
Do you have problem getting it through guides that aren’t rollers? And when you do use the double line do you tie an Albright to connect the leader? Thanks!

I like a spider hitch to make a double line on mono and braid. Some may say that it isn’t as effective as a Bimini but I’ve never had one fail on me.

It depends on whether I’m tying braid or mono and what leader I’m using, but often I’ll use the Albright or a simple uni to uni

Ok but do you always use double line when You are fishing for mahi or tuna?

I do because I’m in the habit of it when tying my mainline to a snap swivel for changing rigs fast and easy. I do know plenty of people who do not use a double line and tie thier snap swivel to the single mainline when not targeting big fish.

Knots have no issues going through ring guides…as long as the guides are large enough for the knot. When building offshore rods I rarely use any guides smaller than 8s. I will use 12s if I think heavy lines will be used.

A bimini is one of the easiest knots to tie. Don’t be intimidated.
