Been looking at getting a new pair of binoculars. Want to keep it under $300. Any suggestions?
Been looking at Celestron trailseeker 8 x 42. Pros/cons?
Just trying to be the best pair for my money.

Midway has the Leupold Acadia on sale for under $200.00
Steiner Predators are dang good for the price, you can find them under your price.
I’d get on the SWFA.com Sample List and start going through what they have. You might take your $300.00 budget and come out with a $600.00 pair of binos. Look on EuroOptik and Cameraland NY for similar pages of demo.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I have been pleased with the nikon action 10x50’s. For around 100 dollars its a good set of binos

Can’t beat Nikon, they really are great at gathering light.

I have the Steiner’s, not bad, but I would look at the Leupold too.

Go to Gander Mountain and physically look thru them all. They have a great display open to the public. Monarchs are nice.
Here’s my issue with about anything Nikon makes for field optics, they break a lot. I sent a scope back to Nikon 3X in one season for things breaking in it. Look on some of these places like Natchez, they sell a ton of refurbished Nikon products. I don’t want a product that is sold in places as refurbished, I want it furbished the first time around. Buy something that you’ll have confidence in, nothing like finding out your equipment sucks and is broken when you are looking at your trophy run away with its white rear end showing.

Sorry Salty, but I have never had anything made by Nikon break. I guess I am just
careful with my optics whether they are binos, scopes or cameras.

The scope in question was on one of my very nice Sakos, the Sako is still flawless to this day. I don’t abuse my gear, I take very good care of it. I have a pair of Nikon Binos that my kids play with now, the seals went in them about three years after I got them as a gift.
You want to spend money on them, that is your choice. I prefer to go with something that has a better reputation for reliability.
