Despite the rough seas we gave it a shot yesterday. We arrived at the 226 hole around 730. Started to put lines in and immediately hooked a mahi before we even had the third one in the water. Landed it and continued trolling. The seas were building so we trolled nw until we hit 100 ft of water. Once in 100 we picked up the lines and headed home. Had a total of seven knockdowns and landed four fish. Two were mahi the other were shark bait for the summer (bonitas). The mahi were caught on little pink and blue islanders. Good luck to anyone who goes. It’s a little dicey right now.
How warm is the water down that way? Looks like a pretty good break in 250’ to 300’
Don’t quote me but I think we hit the 70 degree mark in about 230 ft on the way to the 226. We dropped lines in about 450’ but the ocean was building by the minute. I wish we could’ve spent more time out by the ledge but it was pretty nasty Saturday. It calmed down in the shallower water but all we were getting was Bonita. Saturday was a tough day to fish but were going to head back out soon and redeem ourselves.
