Black drum

I think i would be cool to catch a couple of these. Anybody got any tips to get on some big ones? Where to look for them, bait, rigs? Any help would be appreciated.

I have been told there are some bigun’s at the base of the Ravenel Bridge. Blue crab or cut mullet on a drop rig?? The smaller ones are good eating.

I never tear em up but I usually can catch 1or2 when fishing the nearshore artifical reefs using fiddlers and shrimp combination or a piece of blue crab.I never caught any over 7 or 8lbs there but there are real good to eat at this size.If you’re close to the ocean try around docks and pilings with same bait.

You can’t catch fish on a dry line

find slotties at the jetties as incidentals when fishing fiddlers or shrimp for sheeps or BSB. as mentioned, i really like to eat the 18-22" types too.

as for bigguns, i know under the bridges in deep water with chunks of crab on oversize carolina rig… some folks around here with more information on that one, never gotten one over about 12lbs.

when they blew up the old bridge some big uns floated. somebody on here [stretch? or 2busy] got a giant last year where BW said.

Thanks guys! I’ll try various bridges in the deep water. I more want to catch the big ones, but I would like to try a slottie for dinna!

I’ve seen some BIG ones caught under the 526 Bridge near the Wando Terminal. They were using crab.
