Been ketching lots of small black drum on Folly and around harbor. Lots of fun, not so good table fare. Keeps the wife and kids happy with tight lines!!
What bait, if I may ask?
Why not good table fare? I find the smaller ones quite tasty.
I find them tasty as well. I usually trim off the red streak near the skin.

They have loved the ‘left-over’ oysters that have been frozen after sheepin’. Also low tide seems to be when they enjoy their buffet.

I love the taste of black drum. When they were legal to keep , I have eaten them up to 85 lbs. Many , many years ago I never saw any worms in them .
I DONT HAVE A BOAT
BUT LOVE TO FISH> HINT
wish I woulda caught a few on Folly yesterday, just a red
Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

Really no difference in a small balck drum and small red drum as far as table fare IMO I love them both!
