Black Friday (pics)

Went fishing on Black Friday with Ralph Phillips. New moon, BIG tide. The high was around 9:30am and we were able to catch a handful of trout on topwater at the last of the incoming. Got 3 on film

At dead high, a time usually when the bite is very slow, Ralph put on an absolute clinic. Trout after 16-18" trout. The bite was very, very light. I had a hard time feeling it but was able to catch a few. Otherwise I sat back and watched the master (and filmed). The bite is an ever so slight…tick… and your reaction must be instant or you miss it.

A very cool thing to witness…I learned a ton (again). We caught fish all the way to low, and even found a school of trout in a traditional redfish spot in 2-3 ft of water which was a surprise.

We fished the same spot, same lure, same tide, same everything except skill the day after you guys. SKUNKED! He even called us and told us they were there. Didn’t matter. He’s a Jedi.

But Luke wasn’t made in a day…

The pictures of the strikes are really cool. Also, thanks for posting specific information about your trip.

Ive had the pleasure of fishing with Ralph a couple of times in the past. I have never seen (or heard of) anybody that can find fish like that man. On one of our trips, I was using his rods, you know, the ones with his name on them that he has custom made, and somehow broke the tip off of it. He didnt even get upset with me! I replaced it anyway just to not upset the guru!
