How do they know that it has been reached? And where to they get this numbers from?
Big Dummy
One of my neighbors works for the SC DNR and she told me that we don’t have a problem it’s Fl that is hurting the fish population. It’s the over 1,000 charter boats they have and over 80% of them fish offshore. Here is SC those numbers are reversed.
A wise man once said “Do as I say not as I do” Good advice when I tell you that.

That is not the true cause of the problems we are facing.
The law allows the managers (forces them actually) to go by the “best available science.” The agencies determine what is “best available.” 70% of the science from NC is thrown out or not used in the case of sea bass. That conveniently paints a very bad picture. Add in the facts that most of the “science” being used is over 10 years old, and that sea bass live 10 only years…
What does common sense tell you?
The agenda is to get small commercial operations off the water. The agenda is to get us recreationals to accept radical measures such as tags or catch shares (we pay the government for what we want to catch.
I’m not going to go into it any further. I’ve got thousands of posts on this site on this subject, and most folks say I write too much.
There is one gentleman in Florida that catches over half the commercial black sea bass ACL in the entire South Atlantic each year. Blaming charter boats and recreationals down there is a falacy…
That gentleman’s log books over the past 20 years PROVE that sea bass are better than ever right now.
The PROBLEM is NOT FLORIDA.
The PROBLEM is NOT LACK OF FISH.
THE PROBLEM IS LACK OF DATA AND LACK OF AN ACCOUNTABLE MANAGEMENT PROCESS.
Luke 8:22-25
Do these morons even take effort into account?? The wind has been blowing for weeks. This is like prohibition where the Gov is gonna make us all criminals. I am goung fishing the first chance I get, and if they are closed and I’m catching big knotheads…well…you know…screw them.
DNR will take your gear and boat.
Are 15 BSB worth it?
The fact that people are starting to not respect the rules and regs anymore is what makes me angriest perhaps most of all…
I cannot say that I blame people. It’s about the same as making the speed limit on all federal highways 35MPH…
Luke 8:22-25
15 Seabass?? Phin you forgot the moved the limit to 5…
screw it, my .02: sort of confused about the “common sense” comment. agree with both: lack of management but also pointing the finger at florida. do i think they really weighed all the recreational lbs of seabass caught? hell no. if they did, would the “by far” majority be florida? hells yes… it’s just “common sense”.
that aside, seabass are like rabbits,… those SOBs are on every wreck. not trying to say i want them diminished by any means… but good God, if you’ve ever targeted anything but seabass on a wreck then you’d know they’re doing JUST FINE
Down to go but dont have crew if anyone has an open spot have rods, reels, tackle, experiance, can clean fish boat gear etc… Pm me or email if ya have an open spot!!!
