Alright, who normally doesn’t care much about catching a C bass but will go fishing before Monday to catch some C bass just out of principle / anger / frustration / nostalgia’s sake?

^ that was the good ol days… you know… like 2 years ago.
Here’s a few from the farewell c bass trip last time (earlier this year just before the last shut down). We didn’t even take any bait with us…
Luke 8:22-25
Go catch them as fast as you can!!! Just remember they will deduct the estimated overage from next years quota so maybe we will hit the target even earlier maybe labor day. This year they took the first 70,000 lbs off the top effectively removing about 16%.
A couple things.
I’ve never been sampled / surveyed.
Since the draconian limitations and restrictions on most all bottom species, I have not wasted my time with these fish really. I’ve gone after what’s only open for a few months a year or what’s more challenging to try and catch.
I can personally save the lives of hundreds of juvie B liners and ARS that 5 black sea bass will otherwise eat between now and June 1.
Racing to beat government closures brings a level of drama back into sea bass fishing.
It’s not like someone cannot go easily catch any of these overpopulated fish if they’d like.
Catch and release black sea bass fishing is a little ridiculous when you catch them without even using bait / lures (they bite a bare hook or sinker).
If I actually use natural bait, the swarm of these fish will come up to the surface and actually wait on stuff to be dropped into the water…
You are definately right about them being closed down much sooner next year.
We aren’t kicking the can down the road anymore though. Don’t worry!

Looks like last week was my last trip for them. Too much work to catch up on before the 17th to drag the boat back down. I would hate to think of how many we threw back just to be particular about the 20 we kept. Oh well…looks like the troll will be on for the next trip for sure or either target the grouper. Looks like this pic from last week will be the last one with BSB’s in it from me until June. Did join the RFA for 3 years though.

I am going Friday or Saturday. The weather is looking great for a Sea Bass slaughter… Wait a minute… I don’t think 5 fish exactly qualifies for that:frowning_face:
It is going to be a long winter. I guess I will have to target trout and redfish when I want fresh fish.
This is so absurd.
I’m in, but I may need to borrow some #'s…
not looking good for me to be able to get in before the deadline…i am too busy building secret compartments.

There’s 5 sea bass out there with MY name on it!
Is this gonna be the new spot fleet? The BSB fleet?

What Gut Wrench said… Phuck Them. I aint gonna go fishing on some ■■■■■ NE wind just because they are corrupt and say we catch too many fish. There are prolly 250 million pounds of bsb in the Ocean, and they say we can keep 300k pounds. If they wann a tear my boat apart have at it.
You guys have some sort of insurance policy that pays you fair value of your boat after it gets seized??
Wait… fair value is now relatively nothing thanks to all the closures.
I think I understand some of your attitudes now.
I have spent too much time on my boat to give it up for the chance for a couple C bass though. So I’ll push out in whatever weather this weekend if I can- just to get 5 out of the water like I said.
Think of the environmental damage overpopulated C bass will do if we do not act now!

I’m no more worried about my boat being seized as I was the reprecussions of smoking out of water bong in college. This country is in dire straights if a DNR with no budget goes to that extreme. I have marched on Washington, written letters to congress, sent countless e mails. What more can be done?? I will persist in these things, but what’s next?? I say that someone should start a petition to the Governor to keep the state bsb fishery open. Piracy is going to be the way of life for the majority I believe, and I will tell you this also. People that choose that path will not limit themselves to 5 BSB’s. I know plenty of people that are so disgusted they are not even considering stopping on October 17th. There is this little thing called the VHF radio, and the cell phones so everyone prettry much knows exactly where DNR is at all times in MI.
Anybody know how to figure out what football games will be on SiriusXM Saturday afternoon?
