I catch most of mine on the bottom. Usually limit out.
We have caught a few decent ones at the Bill Perry lately. No real size though.

Friendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings.
I catch mine at my favorite basshole:clown_face:![]()

PT. you may want to post this on the Gtown site. Lot less clowns on there.
This time of year pretty much any structure or relief in deeper water will hold black-fish.In the fall and winter months 60-90ft.,on any hard bottom will hold fish,as well as the structure.Your best bet now,get a maps unique and fish the man made reefs. Good luck, they are easy to catch and very good eating.![]()
Had one that went #5.1 in 175’ on a 15’ relief two weeks ago. They get bigger, closer, in the fall/winter. Small ones stay on the nearshore structure(less than 80’) all year it seems.

Seriously, I fish in 65’ to 70’ and use a double bottom setup with 2" gulp peeler crabs. Use circle hooks and you can use the same bait ALL day long. The Gulp 4" swimming minnow in the red color works great also. Usually pull up 2 at a time. Don’t set hook. Let bait hit floor, stick rod in holder, rod will double over. Reel them up. Freshen baits by dunking in the Gulp bucket w/ sauce and you will SLAY them.
