Yea I don’t understand that one either. Surely it has nothing to do with local state representatives overpowering the DNR’s recommendations, or the revenue interests that a larger commercial fish harvest would generate? Surely not =)
Anyway,
This post DID accomplish something. If anybody remembers the vague wording of the SAFMC regulations or the lack of specific date closures for Black Sea Bass on the DNR website before we started this rant… I think you’ll like what you see now!
I would say you were the Quarterback(Assault Weapon) and threw a great pass on getting the rules out there for the the average Joe and beyond to be able to understand.
Luckily you had a wide receiver (Jim Goller) that ran it in for a touchdown…!
Please start stirring, it needs to be stoked, stirred, and dumped into some peoples laps. It’s hard to make a buck fishing this time of year with offshore regs like this. INSANITY!

Really want to stir the pot, ask why the commercial and recreational size limits aren’t the same! You think it would be bigger for commercial since they get out there all the time, but for some reason, their limit is 2" less…
I recently made a call to the SAMFC Office in CHarleston and spoke to Amber VonHarten (Bo’s wife). Many of you know her.
Anyway, one of the questions I asked was “Did the recreational fishermen have another overage that would again have to be subtracted from next years ACL resulting in shorter and shorter seasons?”
Keep in mind, as the Sea Bass get bigger, the ACL is met sooner.
She said the numbers were not in yet…WOW! I am just wondering why that would be???
Yes PAPABEAR, gotta be tough getting a charter together!
