Going to try to catch some black fun this weekend at what speed do you guys usually troll

It sounds like your time may be better spent doing some reading and studying before heading offshore. Time is much more valuable on the ocean than on land b/c your weather window and fishing days are very limited. Every fish caught bluewater trolling anywhere in the world is caught in the 4-15 knot range. You are in control of the variables beyond that. The more you spend trying to learn on your own on land before going offshore, the more you will learn and understand once you are out there. Fact. No harm intended here but there is an infinite amount of resource available all over the internet for you to study on your own before expecting others to spoon feed it. I pay attention to the bait not speed. I keep the boat moving fast enough to keep the bait in the water but on top of the water. NO bouncing/flying out of the water. It will happen if you are some chop but you want the bait to make a splash and stay on top/in water. Speed will vary depending on water and wind direction.
But FB is correct, tons of info on the internet to read and watch.

Ditto that. I don’t even look at the speed. Just adjust until the bait is swimming properly. It can change completely when you change directions. And if you are targeting blackfin, don’t forget the cedar plug. They love those. Good luck. Best way to learn is by doing.
