blackfish

not really offshore because i could see the bridge, fished live bottom sat and sun and everyone limited on nice fat blackfish. preferred bait was cut fish, most of the fish had whole pins in their bellys.

how far offshore can you still see the bridge?

depends on the day. i’ve seen it 24 miles (from the rocks) and many other times haven’t been able to see it from 3 miles. humidity plays a big factor

we were only in 45ft. went back wed and all 3 had large limits in about 30 mins. going again today.

what do you mean ‘whole pins’ if you dont mind me asking?

Just guessing, but maybe “pinfish”?

24 miles? Sound like some mighty fine binoculars. :sunglasses:

I’ve seen it from 21 miles, naked eye, no haze.</font id=“blue”>

I have seen it 23NM from the rocks on an EXTREMELY clear and dry afternoon the Nov before it opened. The sun was shining on the white cables and they looked like 2 white triangles. This was from a bay boat, not a bridge or tower.

Bud light must have been sitting on the rocks to see 24 miles!!!

Maybe the earth really is flat and that would allow for vision beyond the generally accepted 12 or so miles. And yes I am aware that we are talking about an object that is 500’ tall, however the eye is only capable of seeing so far. Wait a minute, it’s the rose colored glasses.!!!:sunglasses:

On a clear day, we can spot the top of the towers at 19.2 miles from the rocks.

My buddies have been hitting the grouper in shallow water, 35-60 feet this time of year. Did you get into any shorts at all?

no bud light. i was working that day

“however the eye is only capable of seeing so far”

Next clear night take a look up - those are stars and they are quite a bit further away than 24 miles.

The tower is high - way above the curvature of the earth.

I’ve seen the Mount Pleasant Radio Towers as much as 30 miles out at night.

Seen the bridge as much as 20+ miles.
