Seems a shame the commercial guys can keep them @ 10 inches.

Commercials have been closed to BSB’s this whole season (closed 12/20/09 will open again in June) There are no boats trapping them this year. When they open in June, those same boats will not be targeting them, as Grouper will be open.

.

May have seen you out there. We were in the cat a little north I think. We caught over 100 also only kept 40 (4 guys on board) We got checked by the man behind Sullivans Island. Glad we threw em back if they didnt make the 12 inch mark, Seems a shame the commercial guys can keep them @ 10 inches. Boys look like they had a great time.#S
N32-27-40.5 W79-40-34.4 Big area for the bsb’s. If you are afraid some one will steal your spot realize it has been fished before and someone else turned someone else on to it.

That area must be loaded b/c the spot I marked a lot of fish in (atleast 20ft thick) is N 32.26.664 W 79.36.734 … I went back there about 6 mos later and couldn’t locate the markings but dropped down and area was still with non-stop action. I would say 60-70% of fish that came up were legal…Hope to find some good markings out in the same area Friday as long as forecast holds.

My son decided to try fishing without bait. So he dropped just hooks and he still caught fish. It was crazy.

so you’re saying I’m wasting a chit load of money everytime I go? … I’m going to try dropping bucktails without anything this next trip. Had a guy tell me they had a lot of success with Gulf Red Snapper and grouper dropping bucktail jigs with the belly meat part of b-liners. Sd they cut about a 4" strip of it off and hook it on one end and just bounce it on the bottom. I don’t know what success that would do in our fishery but I’m up to trying any new techniques

I was fishing out there close to them and you could drop down about anything. They were even hanging on the weight on the way up.

I use 2" gulp peeler crabs and can re-use same bait until limited out! Makes boat cleaning afterward a lot easier!

ssharda do you double or triple chicken rig the crabs? I’ll be stopping at the wally world in summerville on the way down praying for no stinky squid. Can you pick up the gulp stuff at wally world? Like I sd I will try anything and anything to make my job easier when I get back 2 the hill Im willing to do…I hate washing down all my stuff and the boat after the trip and long haul back to the midlands…Im a messy fisher so the squid smushed and hardened on everything is a pain n the arse…i may try to wash boat down with saltwater while its all still wet that way I just gotta wash off the salt…Im generally doping everything so washing down is not usually on my to do list before loading up and heading to the hill…hope somebody else can join us out there this Friday if weather holds…I got a serious itch for TIGHT LINES!!!

PR, we rinse the boat with saltwater often. Makes it a lot easier when you get to the hill.
