Bleach-Pros/Cons

Any of you guys know if bleach is to hard on vinyl? I use bleach on the fiberglass/ gelcoat of my boat, wondering if it would damage the vinyl on the seats? Any Advice?

It will eat the stitching over time

It won’t be as bad on the vinyl as it will be on the threads.

If you use it diluted and sparingly, rinse well, and you should be OK.

what itch said… I usually dilute it to about 1 cup / gallon of water and then spray with a garden spayer. Let it sit for very little time then rinse and rinse and rinse again.

Bleach also removes any wax, polish or vinyl protectant so you will need to reapply after use. Also, like previous posters said…it will deteriorate the stitching. You might want to try something specifically for that purpose.

Go to your local dollar store. They sell this stuff called “awesome”. It’s cheap, and I know what you’re thinking about the dollar store, but trust me, it’s the best thing you will EVER use to clean your boat. I’ve been using it for over 5 years and I have not had one single problem with it. First time I used it I was amazed, my boat never looked so good! Heard about it from a friend, now I’m passing it on…
